01 — Overview
A retreat shaped by the landscape.
The Solace Pavilion is a contemporary countryside residence conceived as a quiet place to reconnect with nature. Set within the rolling landscape of the Yarra Valley, the home embraces a restrained architectural language that allows its surroundings to take center stage.
Low horizontal forms, generous glazing, and a carefully selected palette of natural materials establish a dialogue between the built environment and the land beyond. Every space is designed to frame a view, capture the changing light, and make everyday living feel more intentional.

02 — The Concept
Less architecture, more atmosphere.
The concept is grounded in the idea that a building should complement its setting rather than compete with it. A simple, elongated form follows the natural contours of the site, while sheltered outdoor spaces extend the living areas into the surrounding landscape.
Inside, tactile finishes and a muted palette create a sense of continuity. The relationship between solid walls and transparent openings balances privacy with openness, allowing the landscape to remain a constant presence throughout the home.
03 — Design Details
Materiality: Natural stone, board-formed concrete, oak, and linen.
Form: Low-profile volumes and clean horizontal lines.
Light: Expansive glazing that frames the surrounding landscape.
Landscape: Native grasses and restrained planting that preserve the natural character of the site.

04 — The Outcome
A quieter expression of contemporary living.
The Solace Pavilion brings architecture, interiors, and landscape together through a restrained and cohesive approach. Instead of relying on decorative complexity, the residence finds its character in proportion, materiality, and its relationship to the outdoors.
The result is a home that feels grounded, timeless, and connected to its setting—a place where architecture creates space for everyday life without distracting from the beauty around it.
